Feed them right, not just enough

Every dog is different — yours deserves more than the generic chart on the bag. Get a portion calculated for your dog's weight, life stage, and the exact food you use — the same WSAVA energy formula your vet's software runs, in three inputs. Free, no sign-up.

1 Your dog
2 Your dog's food (optional — see portions)

Values auto-fill from the food you pick. Can't find yours? Choose “My food isn't listed” in the search and copy the numbers from the bag's Calorie Content (ME) label — dry foods typically run 3,300–4,200 kcal/kg.

Estimates only. Feeding guides are a starting point — individual dogs vary with metabolism, activity, and body condition. Adjust by how your dog looks and feels, and talk to your vet before major changes.

How the math works

Every veterinary feeding guide starts from one formula: RER = 70 × weight0.75 (resting energy requirement), multiplied by a life-stage factor (1.6 for a neutered adult, 3.0 for a young puppy, 1.0 for weight loss). That gives calories per day — then the calculator divides by your food's calorie density (the AAFCO label on the bag) to get grams and cups.

The same math your vet's software runs, in three inputs. The most common mistake it fixes: feeding by the bag's generic chart, which assumes a "typical" dog and can be off by 30% for yours.
